Every leadership book promises a method. Chris Hossfeld spent twenty-seven years in the Army learning that the method runs out exactly when you need it: when the information is incomplete, the assumptions are wrong, the people around you disagree, the time is gone, and the consequences are about to become personal. Unfiltered Leadership starts there.
Each chapter walks a battlefield first, Monte Cassino, Gettysburg, the ground he walks with the officers and executives on his staff rides, then turns to a night of his own: an operations center in Kandahar at three in the morning, a raid in Mosul, a task force built from American, Romanian and Bulgarian soldiers. History, experience, reflection, and then a question the reader has to answer about their own command. It is for anyone with a team under them and a boss over them who has run out of good answers and still has to decide.
Chris Hossfeld is a retired U.S. Army officer with twenty-seven years of service, including company and battalion command in combat, command of a multinational task force, and a tour as chief of staff to a two-star general. He is the founder of Barrel Strength Leadership, which leads battlefield staff rides at Gettysburg, Normandy, Bastogne and in Italy for ROTC programs, active units and corporate teams, and he is a member of the International Guild of Battlefield Guides. He lives in Georgetown, Texas.
